Two Charged Over Heathrow Alleged Pepper Spray Assault
Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a believed to be capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two robbery charges and charges for using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.
The charges follow an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases stolen after exiting a car park lift, authorities reported.
A young child was among those injured in the event. A total of five individuals required hospital care and were later discharged.
The incident – described by police as was not part of a series and deemed non-terroristic – led to disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
