Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has passed that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the cases to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the deaths, public figures expressed varying reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing divisive statements that were widely condemned by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the those speaking out recently. Talking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser could have stepped in when the choice to weigh in on the passing was made.
