Expedition 33 Sweeps at the 2025's Gaming Honors
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place on Thursday, and in a stunning show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the biggest winner. The standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the coveted Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with honors for Superb Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Complementing the studio's success, its gifted performers also were honored with personal awards. Jennifer English received Best Lead Performer for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself received Top Studio. Overall, Clair Obscur and its developers achieved seven awards throughout the event.
Other standout winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and PC Game of the Year. Worth mentioning, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only 4 special—Critics Choice, Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamer Selection—determined by experts.
